"His Desire Is For Me"
The Song of Songs is the tender tale about a monarch and a maiden; a king and his captivating bride. Viewed by some as a rather obscure book of the Bible, with eyes to see, it is a book that reveals, like none other, the passionate, intimate, and jealous love that God has for His people.
Blending fiction, commentary, and 30-days of devotions, His Desire Is for Me provides daily, bite-sized portions of the Song of Songs for you to savor, meditate upon, and enjoy. It reveals the different stages believers go through on the road to spiritual maturity in their love for the Lord, from an initial love, to an increasing love, and finally unfolding into a mature love. Read it, and you will come to believe, with conviction, that His desire is truly for you! I felt as if the Hand of Christ was touching Mr. Emery's hand as he put these words to paper. Available at www.bobemerybooks.com, Amazon, Barnes and Noble and wherever fine books are sold. Also available on Kindle and the Nook.

Have you ever met someone who would change your whole life? The story I want to tell is about such a person that Christ placed in my life. It all started about 20 years ago with a lady coming in my shop asking for help. At that time, I had a furniture restoration business. Sandra would ask a question about how to do this or that and sometimes bring me something to work on. She was such a nice lady and always a pleasure to chat with.
Some years later, a tall, lanky guy strolled in my shop asking questions. It wasn't long before I learned his wife was Sandra. I told him Sandra was one of the nicest ladies I knew. Bob is quite perceptive and I think he knew he was talking with a troubled person. I had a great business and you would think me a happy, successful person. Bob could somehow see right through this even though I never told him of my problems. Bob never preached one word to me. He never said you should do this or that, but he did talk with me as a caring friend. Before he left my shop, he asked if it were OK to have a word of prayer with me so we sat in my office as Bob prayed.
During our talk I told Bob I had written a book in 1993 and was thinking I would write a second one. Me thinking this was really a joke as I could not commit to the time and energy to writting a second one with the problems I was having at that time. Trying to write with a bottle of Jack Daniel's on the table just would not work. Bob knew I was a Nam Vet and suggested I call Chuck Dean who owned a publishing company and had also written "Nam Vet", a book about dealing with problems from Nam.
Sometime later, I called Chuck and talked with him. He ask if it was OK to have a friend call on me. I didn't know it at the time but Chuck was founder of Pointman Ministries especially targeted to Nam Vets. So this guy Dan called on me, we became friends and he strongly suggested I go the Vietnam Outreach Center in Charlottesville.
Bob went with me half way to Richmond to meet the guy from Pointman. This is a story Bob doesn't care to much for but it is a great memory. We arrived at the restaurant early. Seated at a table, a man came over to Bob and said, "Didn't I meet you sometime ago?" I quickly said, "That would be impossible, Bob just got out of prison yesterday." Well, Bob's face light up like a red Christmas light. I then told the guy I was just joking.
So I was convinced to go to VA Outreach. I knew there were some problems but really thought it was no big deal. I went to the counseling appointment and after about 20 minutes, John Honeywell, the counselor, handed me a paper. Looking at it, it was like reading an outline of my life. The paper was a list of symptoms of PTSD.
So after that, I had a few bad years but it would be better to talk about the good years. Today I feel that I am living the best years of my life. I know that the best I ever feel is when I am spiritually connected. My problem is doing it.
Bob has not only become my good friend, my mentor, a person I trust, and one that I look up to as an example of a person who truly lives as a Christian should, I can confide in him. Recently I mailed Bob as I was feeling troubled. The next thing I knew, his book was on my desk. Not being a very good reader, I admit that when I opened it, I thought, how will I ever get through this. I sat down and started reading and read the whole thing in 3 days which was a mile stone for me. The story and the reading just flowed with such ease, the story was so interesting and I was learning things written in such a way that made perfect sense. It really put me back on track.
And once again, I have my friend Bob to thank for being there for me as he is for so many others.
Bob was there for one reason, just like Sandra, Chuck and Pointman. It was the work of Christ and his plan for me. My thanks and priase is to one, Jesus Christ. It was His plan for me that placed these people in my life.
When I read Bob's book I learned my relationship with God is most important. I also learned that God's love for me is the same as the love He has for Bob.
